The muscular styling of the new generation GL-Class suggests an SUV with plenty of power and torque – and it doesn?t disappoint. A choice of three formidable engines includes the GL 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY, which incorporates an array of smart energy saving measures without compromising performance.

For example, the tyres feature a special tread and modified rubber compound to reduce rolling resistance. The Mercedes-Benz star in the radiator grille has been sealed to improve aerodynamics. And the electrohydraulic on-demand power steering helps prevent unnecessary fuel consumption.

The result is an impressively efficient SUV with sub-253 g/km CO2 emissions and combined fuel economy of 9.6 l/km.

Delivering an impressive 388 hp (285 kW), the petrol GL 500 is one of the most powerful yet economical engines in its class. The advanced lightweight design uses special shifting camshafts to optimise the engines gas cycle. What do you get out of it? Improved smoothness and higher torque, particularly in the intermediate engine speed range.
